Contentment Begins With Jesus

Contentment in the Lord is found when we are able to find peace in any and every situation. The Bible tells us that Paul found a way to be content, no matter what his situation, “whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want” he could do all things through Christ who strengthened him (Phil 4:11-13). Paul tells us that no matter what is going on in our lives: pain, fear, sickness, or living under strongholds of any kind, that we can find peace because our strength comes from Christ.

Have you ever been so pressed down and so worn and weary that you just don’t have it in you to fight through whatever you are suffering?

Paul gives us the solution when the answer to this question is a resounding “YES!” You see, the strength that we possess in Jesus can defeat anything that may be afflicting us, holding us down, causing turmoil in our spirits. The problem comes when we forget or are unable to draw on that strength. Our pain, fear, sickness, or the strongholds we’re living under overwhelm us and take precedence, even before God, in our lives. That’s when we begin to lose hope, the hope that is Jesus. We lose sight of the power He possesses and the power that we can draw on through Him. BUT GOD….

Isaiah 43 says:

“But now, this is what the Lord says—
he who created you, Jacob,
he who formed you, Israel:
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;
I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze.
For I am the Lord your God,
the Holy One of Israel, your Savior;

Jesus Christ is our hope. He is our Savior. He is making a way for us and, through whatever it is you are going through right now, right this minute. He is doing a new thing!!! “DO NOT FEAR”, He says. Even though it may feel like it right now, He will not let the waters sweep over you or let you get burned in the fire. He will bring down your enemies. For those who call Him Savior, you know He has already redeemed you! Nothing can touch you now, except for what He will allow in order to do something new in you and through you.

I don’t know what that newness will look like for you. I don’t know why God has chosen the specific journey you are on. BUT, I do know that this hope is real and true and His name is Jesus. Being content comes from drawing on His power and grace, and in order to do that, you have to know Him; you have to recognize the power and the hope that is Jesus, and call on His name.

Being content in every situation begins with knowing Jesus.

Do you know Him?

If so, Call out to Him!

If not, I’d love to tell you about Him. Let me know.
