Fervent Prayer Of A Righteous Man

Second Time With Cancer

I remember when I was diagnosed for the second time with cancer. I was shocked! I could hardly speak. And, even as I called my husband home from work to tell him the news that the doctor had just given me, I sat in disbelief-numb. I didn’t know if I could speak the words to him. I didn’t know if I wanted to speak those words to him, because if I said them out loud, it would be real!

Well, I did tell him, and I ended up telling others as well. Some people were sad for me. Some people really had no words. But, some began to pray for me. I mean, really pray! There were people in my life who began to stand with me before the Lord, asking for healing, for peace, for wisdom for doctors, for “the trespassers in my body to be evicted!!” These beautiful believers prayed over me with oil and cries to the Lord for healing and protection from the enemy’s attacks on my body, mind, and spirit.

Fear And Anxiety

I know that, sometimes it is hard to speak your pain, your fear, your anxiety, or doubts out loud. I know that it can be scary because saying them out loud, sharing them with someone else, makes them real or makes you look crazy, or like a complainer, or weak. But, it is actually holding these things in that prevents true and complete healing. When you hold on to whatever you need healing from, it becomes like a cancer, eating you up inside; hidden, tucked away in the dark, where you painfully or shamefully try to deal with it.

We are not meant to carry these burdens alone. In fact, we become stronger as we invite people to stand with us like links in a chain! Our burden becomes lighter, the darkness loses its hold, and true healing can begin. James 5: 16 tells us: …Pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much (NKJV).

Intercessors

I was blessed to have people in my life who were faithful, who knew the Word of God and prayed it “fervently” over me, even when my fear and pain prevented me from praying for myself at times. God puts people in our lives who are intercessors for us. He places people in our paths who are there to pray for us and to lift us up; to lighten the load and stand before Him on our behalf. Find these people! Seek them out. Ask the Lord to reveal them to you. When you do find them, share your wounds and let the healing begin.

Who are the prayer warriors in your life?? Who are you a warrior for?
